Stand out on every video call

Boom's marketing headline "Stand out on every video call" is a bold promise.

The use of "Stand out" is effective because it taps into the universal desire to make a good impression and be seen while suggesting that current video call experiences might be falling short or failing to capture one's best self.

By focusing on this outcome of standing out rather than specific features, the headline is able to focus on the end benefit over more technical details. This makes it more relatable and appealing to a broad audience.

"Every video call" implies consistency and reliability. It promises that Boom will help users look their best all the time.

Overall, this headline is effective because it promises to solve a widespread problem in a simple and direct way.

But don't just take our word for it.

In Boom founder Robleh's words:

How did you settle on your current H1?

We started by brainstorming a ton of ideas, some great, some not so much. Early on, we used “Bring the Boom to Zoom” for our teaser page because it was playful and kept things vague. As we refined the product and got clearer about our audience, our messaging evolved. The first step was nailing down our ideal customer profile (ICP): tech professionals, founders, consultants, and coaches…basically, anyone who uses video calls and wants to stand out. From there, we focused on crafting a headline that directly addressed their needs. We landed on “Stand out on every video call.” It’s simple, clear, and directly solves the problem of blending into the background.

How many iterations did you go through?

We went through a lot, probably close to 50 across Google Docs and Figma files. We started with “Bring the Boom to every video call,” but feedback showed that it didn’t resonate with everyone. Recently, we updated it to “Stand out on every video call” and added a subheadline to clarify that Boom works with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. That helped address some confusion about what the product does. We leaned on feedback from our team, customers, and even Twitter friends to refine it further.

What do you think makes a good H1?

A good headline hooks your audience immediately and gives them a reason to keep reading. It needs to do two things: grab attention and explain how your product solves their problem. Over time, as your product evolves, so will your understanding of what resonates most with your audience. A headline should grow alongside your product, getting sharper and more aligned with your value proposition. I think of it as a core part of the product.

How can you tell if this one is working?

It’s still early for this H1, but we’ll measure success through signups, feedback, and intuition. A big part of this is embracing the fact that we’ve all become streamers in some way. Whether you’re leading a meeting, pitching to a client, or presenting to a team, video calls are now your stage. Our H1 taps into that idea and helps our customers feel like they’re not just participants but performers who need to stand out. It’s about making every call an opportunity to leave a lasting impression, and that’s exactly what we’ll be tracking.

Overall, Boom’s headline, “Stand out on every video call,” is a clear and confident promise: no more blending into the background during virtual meetings. The phrase “stand out” speaks directly to professionals who want to make a strong impression—whether they’re pitching, leading, or presenting. It reframes video calls as an opportunity to leave a mark rather than just another task to get through. By highlighting “every video call,” the headline emphasizes reliability and ease of use—Boom works seamlessly with tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams. It’s not just about looking good occasionally; it’s about consistently showing up with confidence and professionalism. The simplicity of the headline leaves room for curiosity.

With features like customizable overlays, presenter tools, and GIF reactions, Boom is about more than just aesthetics. It’s about giving you control and making you memorable. This headline works because it flips a common frustration, lack of engagement on video calls, into an opportunity for empowerment. It positions Boom as the go-to tool for anyone who wants to stand out and make a lasting impression.
