Have I Been Proxied

H—235

Have I been proxied?

Have I Been Proxied checks whether your home IP address has turned up inside a residential proxy network, which happens when an app or a browser extension on your network resells your bandwidth without telling you. What we like here is that the headline suggests a negative event could have already happened without your knowledge. It made us curious enough that we had to keep reading.

Answering that question is also the entire product. You click the button, the page checks the public IP you're connecting from, then tells you yes or no. The headline is a plain statement of what the product does, which is why the positioning, the messaging and the product all say the same thing.

If your product answers one urgent question, that question is worth testing as your headline. It needs no explaining, because anyone who wants the answer has already decided to click.

Why this H1 works:

  • Borrows a structure readers already know
the page inherits its meaning from haveibeenpwned without spending a word on it

  • Objection buster under the button
"Nothing is installed, and we do not scan your devices" removes the fear a check-my-machine tool creates

  • Keeps the page in second person
"Your connection. Someone else's traffic." holds the story on the reader's own network

  • A free tool doing positioning work
a consumer page teaching the problem earns them attention its enterprise sales site can't
