WhatCable

H—196

Know what your USB-C cable can really do.

The hook here is curiosity. WhatCable plants an idea most visitors have never considered: that a USB-C cable can do anything beyond being a cable. "really do" opens a small mystery, and you catch yourself having to read on to solve it. For the nerd audience this is clearly aimed at, that itch is the hook.

The cables-all-look-identical truth is what makes the question land, because you genuinely cannot tell them apart by looking. The subhead answers fast and in plain English: speed, charging limits, e-marker data, connected devices. The demo readout on the right of the hero shows you the payoff before you download, and the row of press logos underneath adds quick credibility for a free utility.

The broader lesson holds for any product: a curiosity gap can outpull a straight benefit when you are surfacing something people did not realize about their own situation, as long as you answer it fast.

Why this H1 works:

  • Opens a curiosity gap
it suggests your cable does something you never knew, so you read on to find out

  • "can really do" implies a gap
it hints that cables hide their true capabilities, which is the reason to care

  • Plain English for the promise
the subhead trades spec-sheet jargon for language the generally-nerdy target audience understands

  • Shows the payoff in the hero
the readout panel lets you see what you’re getting before installing anything
